Step 1 of 6
Extraction

It all starts with extracting cannabinoids from the hemp plant. Manufacturers use CO₂ or ethanol extraction to pull THC, CBD, and other beneficial compounds from the plant material.

The result is a concentrated hemp extract or distillate — the core active ingredient in every gummy.

Step 2 of 6
Activation

THCa becomes more potent when heated, so the extract goes through a controlled heating process before infusion. This step is what makes the final gummy psychoactive.

Getting this stage right is critical — temperature and timing directly affect the potency of the finished product.

Creating the Base

A gelling agent — usually gelatin for traditional gummies or pectin for vegan options — is combined with water, sweeteners, and natural flavors over heat. This mixture forms the chewy base of the gummy.

The ratio of ingredients at this stage determines the texture and consistency of the final candy.

Step 4 of 6
Infusion

The activated hemp extract is blended into the warm base along with lecithin — an emulsifier that helps the oil bind evenly throughout the mixture. Without lecithin, the THC would separate and pool unevenly.

This is the step that sets commercial gummies apart. Even distribution means every piece contains a consistent THC amount.

Molding & Setting

The liquid mixture is poured into candy molds and left to cool and firm up. Commercial producers use automated molding equipment to ensure uniformity across each batch.

Once set, the gummies are removed from the molds and inspected for quality before moving to the final stage.

Curing & Lab Testing

The gummies rest in a controlled environment to develop the right chewiness and moisture level. Curing can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days.

After curing, every batch is submitted to an independent lab for a Certificate of Analysis (COA) — confirming the THC amount on the label matches what's actually inside.

That's the full process.

Six steps, from raw hemp to a lab-verified, consistently dosed gummy. Now you know exactly what goes into every piece.
